Misa’s appeal in Death Note is the contrast between an expressive, playful character and dark, dramatic clothing. You can borrow that contrast without recreating an entire costume. These are inspired outfits assembled from everyday pieces, rather than a guide to identifying screen-worn garments.
The most useful starting points are a dark base, delicate texture and a small decorative detail. Think lace sleeves beside a plain tee, a ribbon beside a simple neckline, or a short skirt balanced by opaque tights. You do not need to add every cue at once.
Good Smile Company describes its official Misa figure’s outfit as gothic lolita. That helps explain one influence on the character’s design, but an everyday black mini-skirt outfit is not automatically a complete Gothic Lolita coordinate. Treat the looks below as casual gothic interpretations.
Formula: black tee with lace sleeves + black pleated mini skirt + opaque tights + flat lace-up boots.
This is the clearest everyday interpretation. Let the lace provide the detail and keep the tee free of another large graphic. A small ribbon at the neck is enough; adding several necklaces can obscure the neckline.
For more coverage, use a longer pleated skirt you already own. If you prefer a mini, sit down and walk upstairs before deciding whether the length works for your plans. The outfit should feel wearable after the photo.
Formula: black camisole + fitted white or charcoal tee + straight dark jeans + low-top sneakers.
The layered neckline gives a dressed-up detail while denim keeps the look casual. Choose a close-fitting base tee so its sleeves sit smoothly beneath the camisole straps. White creates a crisp contrast; charcoal keeps the whole outfit quieter.
If two layers feel too warm, wear an opaque camisole by itself and put the dark accent in your shoes or bag. You still have a complete look.
Formula: plain black dress with a small lace detail + grey or black cardigan + tights + flat boots.
A cardigan softens the dress and makes it easier to adapt to an indoor café or a cool evening. Keep the cardigan hem clearly shorter or longer than the dress hem so the layers look intentional.
A midi dress works here too. The reference comes from the dark palette and delicate trim, not from showing a particular amount of skin.
Formula: short-sleeve black tee + pleated skirt or loose dark shorts + white socks + familiar sneakers.
Choose a ribbon hair clip or a small dark pendant as the single extra detail. This is the least costume-like option and the easiest one to build from ordinary basics.
You can skip tights in hot weather. If you want leg coverage, substitute loose lightweight trousers instead of stacking more layers on top.
Use a one-detail test: if you remove the lace, ribbon or dramatic shoes, does the outfit still work? If it does, you have a useful base. Add the character cue back in and stop there.
Avoid buying a full set of accessories for one look. The same black skirt can work with a plain knit the next day, and the lace-sleeve tee can work with jeans. That repeat wear matters more than matching every detail in an illustration.
The photos below show our actual clothing. Both pieces can support the first outfit, but neither is an official Death Note item or a garment worn by the character.

The black version of our T Shirt Lace Sleeves combines a plain tee body with long floral lace sleeves. It gives the outfit a decorative texture while keeping the rest easy to style.
Wear it two ways: Pair it with a pleated skirt and opaque tights for the first look, or dark straight jeans and simple sneakers for a quieter version.
Fit check: Compare the bust, shoulder and sleeve measurements with a top you own. The lace sleeves and tee body may sit differently, so check both in the listing photos.

The Black Pleated Mini Skirt supplies the structured shape that balances lace. Its product page lists a mid-waist cut and integrated shorts.
Wear it two ways: Wear it with the lace-sleeve tee and flat boots, then change to a plain cardigan and sneakers for an everyday outfit.
Fit check: Check waist, hip and length measurements against a skirt that fits. Integrated shorts do not replace checking whether the overall length feels right for you.
